SUMMARY:
The Machinist is a skilled-level machinist responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a variety of manual and CNC machine tools to produce precision parts. This role requires the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, follow detailed specifications, and ensure high-quality production with minimal supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Set up and operate CNC and manual milling machines, lathes, grinders, and other machine tools.
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and work instructions.
Select appropriate tools, fixtures, speeds, and feeds for efficient and accurate machining.
Perform in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMMs, and other measuring devices.
Adjust machine settings to maintain tolerances and meet quality standards.
Troubleshoot machining issues, including tool wear, material inconsistencies, and programming errors.
Maintain accurate production records, including job travelers, inspection reports, and equipment logs.
Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure safe, reliable operation.
Work collaboratively with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve processes.
Comply with all safety standards, company policies, and ISO/AS quality requirements.
Qualifications-
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of three (3) years' experience, including CNC operation and setup.
Proficiency with machining math, including geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to use precision measurement tools with a high degree of accuracy.
Strong understanding of materials
Knowledge of machining principles, tooling selection, and cutting techniques
Knowledge and use of hand tools and general inspection tools
Must read/write/speak English fluently
Ability to read and follow work orders, set up data sheets, and measurement instructions
CMM experience desired
Computer skills (MS Office) and experience in ERP systems preferred
Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to aerospace industry is required
Working knowledge of manufacturing principals and basic shop math, able to perform standard to metric numerical conversions
Previous experience in production and quality control methods (ISO9001, AS9100 etc.) preferred
Previous experience in Lean Manufacturing implementation and production systems preferred
Punctual and reliable attendance
Ability to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 40 pounds
