Accountant II / Corporate Accountant
Functional Area: Accounting & Finance
Position Overview
The
Accountant II
is responsible for supporting corporate accounting operations, including
monthly close, financial reporting, general ledger reconciliations, audit support, and technical accounting research . This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information used for internal management reporting and external reporting purposes.
The ideal candidate brings a
balanced accounting background
with exposure across financial, managerial, and cost accounting – not a role limited to a single specialty area. This position requires the ability to work independently on assigned projects while collaborating closely with operations, finance leadership, and cross‑functional teams.
Reporting Structure
Reports directly to the
Corporate Accounting Manager
Works closely with
Operating Division Controllers and location‑level accounting teams
Key Responsibilities
Financial Close & Reporting
Assist with the
monthly close process , including preparation of routine and complex journal entries
Support consolidation of multiple legal entities for financial and managerial reporting
Review system‑generated and accountant‑prepared journal entries for accuracy and reasonableness
Prepare monthly internal financial reporting packages for management
External Reporting & Compliance
Contribute to preparation of
quarterly and annual financial statements
and related footnote support
Prepare audit schedules and support
internal and external audit requests
Participate in
Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX)
controls testing and issue resolution
Maintain compliance with accounting standards and reporting requirements
General Ledger & Analysis
Perform
general ledger account reconciliations
and review account activity for accuracy
Maintain balance sheet integrity through analysis and issue resolution
Prepare financial and managerial analyses as requested by management
Technical Accounting & Projects
Perform accounting for complex areas such as:
Stock‑based compensation
Pensions
Derivatives and other advanced accounting topics
Research and document technical accounting issues as required
Support ad hoc accounting projects with an independent, analytical approach
Systems & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Utilize ERP systems (SAP preferred) to prepare financial statements, reports, and variance analysis
Investigate financial discrepancies and partner with other departments to resolve issues
Act as a liaison between corporate accounting and operational accounting teams
Continuous Improvement & Professional Standards
Identify opportunities to improve
accounting processes and controls
Stay current on changes to accounting standards, including:
IFRS
Authoritative guidance from global and domestic accounting bodies
Support financial acumen development across the organization through clear analysis and communication
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in
Accounting or Finance
3–5 years
of progressive accounting experience
Broad experience across
general, financial, and managerial accounting
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
Proficiency with
Microsoft Office , with advanced Excel skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a
multidivisional or manufacturing environment
ERP experience (SAP strongly preferred)
Exposure to
multicurrency accounting and foreign exchange reporting
CPA license preferred
