Senior Corporate Accountant
As a Senior Corporate Accountant at CSX, you will be an active partner in ensuring a timely and accurate month-end close. This role works closely with internal and external business partners to support the accounting needs of all subsidiaries under the CSX Corporate umbrella. The primary duties of this role include: administration of the corporate financial reporting and consolidation system, preparation of intermediate to complex journal entries, and accounting for subsidiary and intercompany activities. Other duties include account reconciliations, variance analysis, management reporting and the preparation of financial and other regulatory disclosures. In support of a strong internal control environment, this role is involved in the execution of SOX controls, including partaking in the monthly certification of consolidated results. This role interfaces with various levels of management within the Finance Organization as well as within operations and support departments to obtain information and data for specific work responsibilities. Other duties include ad hoc projects to support growth, modernization, and streamlining of existing processes.
Responsibilities
Primary Activities and Responsibilities
Prepare and upload monthly journal entries (intermediate to complex)
Maintain, update, and serve as administrator of OneStream (corporate consolidation tool)
Load, consolidate, and review financial data
Complete assigned balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate variances
Create weekly and quarterly reports and perform flux analyses for management review
Research and document accounting conclusions for complex or non?routine transactions
Evaluate system and business-driven changes to determine needed changes to accounting processes and controls
Serve as a point of contact for assigned accounting areas and provide guidance to business partners
Participate in special projects and cross-functional activities, as assigned
Pursue opportunities for process improvement
Provide information to internal and external auditors as required
Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree from an accredited institution required in Accounting, Finance, or Business
3 or more years of experience in Accounting
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Eligible
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification
Graduate Degree
Public Accounting experience
SAP experience
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Understanding of corporate consolidation concepts and SEC reporting requirements
Knowledge of Oracle or SAP GL & subledger systems
Knowledge of OneStream consolidation tool
Knowledge of SOX regulatory standards
Microsoft Office skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
