Job Description
BA – Operations role focuses on requirements gathering, process analysis, and documentation for aviation operational modules such as Flight Operations, Crew Scheduling, and Safety. This position acts as a bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams, ensuring that solutions meet operational needs and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Ability to drive & lead strategic execution, manage change, build relationships with clients, partners, motivate teams & achieve results.
10-20 years of overall experience with a minimum of 6-10 years of relevant experience in the airline operations line of business with:
Expertise in end-to-end Airlines Fleet Management business
Understand aircraft tail assignment process
Understand aircraft messages – SSIM/ SSM/ ASM, MVT, NOTAM, METAR/ TAF, EDCT and others
Understand Airline Slot Management and IATA 80/20 rule
Understand Airline Cost Management - passenger compensation, overfly etc.
Understand the IATA The Client/15 Flight Tracking requirements
Ability to read, understand and comprehend message formats (e.g., AIDX, IATA Type B, SITA, ACARS, SWIM)
Process, teamwork, communications, and management skills needed to succeed in a rapidly growing and changing organization.
Ability to drive & lead strategic execution, manage change, build relationships with clients, partners, motivate teams & achieve results.
Ability to converse with industry leaders, analysts, formulate POV on trends, and proactively propose solutions, investment decisions along with published artifacts, industry speakerships, analyst interactions etc.
Ability to comprehend complex scenarios, propose effective plans & solutions in tackling challenges.
Specific responsibilities include understanding the customer domain & business model, understanding business requirements and structured documentation of the same, translating business requirements into understandable technical stories, working with user experience, design & discussing with technical team to translate requirements to workable, functional, tangible solutions as expected by the customer.
Hands‑on experience in gathering business requirements through structured documentation (artifacts); such as Use Case, User Story, FSD, BRD, Configure Rules Engines, Workflows, Check lists, Traceability matrix, NFRs etc.
Will be expected to be the go‑to person as part of the project team in case of any clarifications specific to functional, business & techno‑functional requirements.
In addition to the above the candidate will also be expected to analyze various methodologies, suggest operation improvements, and build proposal evaluations in a cross‑functional environment.
Should have a good command and be fluent in both verbal and written communication in English Language. An additional international language fluency will be beneficial.
Skills Required
Expertise in SDLC methodologies: Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid delivery models.
Strong analytical and documentation skills for both functional and technical audiences.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple deliverables in a fast‑paced environment.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Technical Awareness, Leadership & Behavioral
Understand system integration with external applications Aircraft Maintenance, Airline Schedule Planning, PSS, Baggage, Flight Dispatch, ACARS, FAA/ EU - AODB, EDCT, NOTAM, METAR, TAF, and other applications as deemed necessary.
Understand the integration approach - APIs (REST, SOAP), Web services, File-based.
Experience working with at least two commercial off‑the-shelf (COTS) products, including TOPS, CAE (former Sabre) Movement Manager, NetLine, AIMS, Merlot, or similar platforms.
Add‑on if the candidate has exposure to implement ERP solutions in medium to large programs.
Keep up with industry best practices, IATA standards, and new technologies in airline operations and aviation IT.
Certifications in Business Analysis (IIBA, PMI‑PBA) or Agile (CSPO, SAFe) preferred.
Travel Requirement: Willingness to travel for onsite workshops, solution design sessions, and implementation support as needed.
