Staff Development Coordinator & Infection Prevention Nurse
Laurel Health and Rehabilitation Center is currently accepting applications for an experienced Staff Development Coordinator & Infection Prevention Nurse. This dual-role position is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and evaluating staff education programs while also leading the facility’s infection prevention and control initiatives. The ideal candidate is a strong educator, clinical leader, and regulatory partner who supports quality outcomes for residents and staff.
Essential Functions
Staff Development & Education
Evaluate resident care needs and staff training needs; provide recommendations to the Executive Director (ED) and Director of Nursing Services (DNS)
Plan, develop, and implement an annual education and in-service schedule for nursing staff
Interpret and implement facility policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to nursing education
Maintain accurate education records, attendance logs, competency validations, and education profiles for nursing staff
Observe, mentor, and educate staff on safety practices and clinical competencies
Maintain current knowledge of geriatric care and nursing education best practices
Infection Prevention & Control
Track, monitor, and report infections in accordance with facility policy and regulatory guidelines
Implement and educate staff on infection prevention and control policies and procedures
Identify infection-related issues and take appropriate corrective and preventive action
Participate in QA/QI initiatives and meetings related to resident care and infection control
Maintain organized, accurate infection surveillance data and documentation for audits and surveys
Leadership & Quality
Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills with the ability to objectively identify issues and implement solutions
Collaborate with leadership and interdisciplinary teams to promote compliance, safety, and quality outcomes
Support survey readiness and ongoing regulatory compliance efforts
Education, Licensure & Experience
Required
Current RN or LPN license in the state of Montana
Minimum one year of experience planning, implementing, or directing adult education programs in nursing
Preferred
Two years of nursing experience
One year of long-term care experience
One year of infection prevention or infection control experience
Supervisory or leadership experience
