
Intern Support Technician

Position Information: The Transporation Programs Division (TPD) offers year‑round, part‑time engineering internships for students pursuing an undergraduate degree.
Work Location: 6230 Stassney Lane Austin, TX 78744
Minimum Salary: $18.00
Maximum Salary: $19.00
Pay Basis: Hourly
FLSA Status: Nonexempt
Responsibilities
Perform entry‑level administrative support work for the department.
Answer the telephone, evaluate requests, answer questions, route messages, and serve as a receptionist or front desk assistant.
Assist in maintaining confidential information and records.
Assist in performing inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment.
Assist in processing routine documents such as vouchers, personnel records, titles, or registrations.
Assist with general warehousing duties such as stocking and issuing materials and supplies, maintaining records, and maintaining warehouse areas.
Disseminate information to the public.
Maintain files, records, and logs.
Maintain radio contact with field units and others.
Make copies and distribute as instructed.
Open, sort, and distribute mail.
Perform preliminary research on assignments and gather pertinent data.
Perform routine word‑processing duties and conduct quality checks of documents created.
Run errands as required.
Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Must be a student in high school or enrolled in a college, university, or other educational institution.
Other Conditions: Must be at least 16 years old and currently enrolled in high school or any institution of higher education, including trade or vocational schools. Employees at least 18 years old with a valid driver's license may be assigned driving duties and may use power tools.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Subject to environmental conditions; protection from weather but not temperature changes.
Light work: lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs.
Sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
Repetitive motion involving substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
