Qualifications
WV Teaching Certificate
Experience working with elementary school-aged children in school-based programs.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated capacity to be a team player.
Demonstrated organizational and coordinating skills related to program implementation and monitoring.
Flexible and adaptable to dynamic changes in the work environment.
Ability to enforce safety procedures and maintain recreational equipment and facilities.
Adequate computer skills and competency in using related software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and use of the Internet.
Responsibilities
Work with the Program Coordinator to plan and/or implement an established plan for appropriate activities during literacy programming.
Implement either guided independent reading practice or daily read-alouds and fluency-building activities during the summer programs.
Implement mathematics routines, hands‑on mathematics activities, games and/or basic fact fluency‑building activities during the summer programs.
Participate in all trainings related to the school‑aged programs component area you will be implementing.
Assist with organizing and maintaining mathematics manipulatives and preparing materials for activities, as needed.
Work with Program Coordinator to plan literacy and mathematics activities that you will be implementing, as needed.
Utilize planning time in weekly schedule to prepare for programming.
Address individual children’s needs under the guidance of the Program Coordinator.
Assist in administering pre‑ and post‑ assessments including, STAR Reading, STAR Early Literacy, tutorials and emergent reader modules assessment, as appropriate.
Work with identified children struggling in mathematics in grades K‑5 who would benefit from small group assistance in mathematics.
Participate in all trainings related to the components of the in‑school support you will be implementing.
Submit group attendance to the Program Coordinator as designated by program policy.
Salary & Employment Term
Salary: $30.00/hour, 7 hours daily. Employment Term: June 10 – July 28, 2026, 7:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Will not work June 19, July 3, 2026 or any other day determined by BOE.
