
ED Technician - Emergency Room

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provides patient care as assigned and per routine, according to standards of care, shift routines, and policies and procedures.
Answers call lights in a timely and appropriate manner.
Documents care provided according to standards.
Maintains a clean work and patient environment.
Maintains supplies, stocking new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies.
Processes orders in an accurate and timely manner. Answers the telephone and call lights appropriately and provides information or relays messages to patients and staff.
Directs visitors to patient rooms; maintains medical records of current patients and processes patient charges and orders supplies as needed.
Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities.
Performs 12‑Lead EKGs as directed.
Starts IVs as directed.
Performs venipunctures as directed.
Assists ED MDs with intubation by gathering needed equipment.
Performs CPR and places the Lucas on patients during resuscitations.
Performs splint applications.
Assists with chest tube insertions by gathering needed supplies equipment.
Performs BGM's as directed.
Transports non‑monitored patients to the inpatient units.
Education and Experience
Completion of a CNA program.
Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), or a medical assistant program in a postsecondary institution that has institutional accreditation by a regional accrediting commission or by a national accrediting organization approved by the U.S. Department of Education.
Graduation from an Emergency Medical Technician program.
Graduation from a Paramedic program.
Certification and Licensure
Certified as a Nursing Assistant in the applicable state.
Certified as a Medical Assistant through the AAMA, RMA through AMT, CCMA through NHA, RMA through AAH, or NCMA Certification through NCCT, with completed education requirements.
Licensed as an EMT‑B or EMT‑A in the applicable state.
Licensed as a Paramedic in the applicable state.
Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.
Special Physical Demands
The special physical demands are considered essential job functions. The employee regularly reaches with hands and arms, talks or hears, stands, walks, fingers, handles or feels, sits, stoops, kneels, crouches, crawls, and smells. The employee regularly lifts or moves up to 10 pounds, frequently lifts or moves up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lifts or moves up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Pay Range
$17.57 – $25.48
