Deputy Clerk $27.61 to $44.97/hr, Sr. Deputy Clerk $30.45 to $49.58/hr

Position Summary
Under general supervision of the Chief Deputy Clerk, the Deputy Clerk receives, reviews, processes, and records real estate and other transactions, maintains official county and public records, and ensures all documentation is properly indexed and recorded in accordance with federal and state statutes and county codes. The Deputy Clerk serves as recording clerk for the County Council and performs other Council support functions. The Deputy Clerk serves as Clerk to the Probate Court and provides assistance to the public in person and via telephone, fax, and email while maintaining confidentiality of all privileged information.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

Registered voter in New Mexico.

Two years of general administrative support in a customer service environment.

Must possess or have ability to obtain a valid New Mexico Class D driver’s license within the first sixty days of employment.

Must possess or obtain certification as an Election Technician by the Secretary of State’s Office before the first primary or general election and maintain thereafter.

Must successfully complete a thorough background investigation.

Additional Minimum Qualifications for Sr. Deputy Clerk

Four years of experience in a Clerk’s office, with one year performing document processing or election administrative support.

Preferred Qualifications for Sr. Deputy Clerk

Associate’s Degree in Business, Communication, Political Science, Public Administration, or related field from an accredited college or university.

Certified Public Official (CPO) program certificate.
