Preventative Maintenance Technician
About the Role
The Preventative Maintenance (PM) Technician is responsible for performing scheduled preventive maintenance and service on commercial and industrial mechanical and HVAC equipment. This role focuses on inspecting electrical and mechanical components, identifying performance issues early, and completing structured PM checklists to ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.
EPA certification is not required for this position.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventive maintenance on commercial and industrial mechanical and HVAC systems following established PM checklists and service procedures
Measure and evaluate electrical characteristics, including amps and voltages, to verify safe and proper operation
Conduct run temperature tests and monitor system performance to identify abnormal operating conditions
Identify and diagnose air, fuel, and performance-related issues before they result in equipment failure
Clean and service equipment such as walk‑in coolers, freezers, condensers, compressors, and pumps
Troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical issues and complete repairs within scope of training and qualifications
Use diagnostic tools and testing equipment to verify proper function of mechanical systems
Document all inspections, test results, maintenance activities, and identified issues using the service field PM checklist
Communicate directly with commercial clients to explain findings and recommend corrective actions
Operate a company vehicle safely when traveling between job sites
Follow all safety standards and OSHA guidelines
Participate in an on‑call rotation approximately once every six weeks, responding to after‑hours service needs during assigned periods
Required Qualifications
1+ year of experience performing preventive maintenance in commercial or industrial mechanical environments
Hands‑on experience with PM, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment
Ability to measure and interpret electrical readings, including amps and voltages
Experience working with compressors, pumps, and related mechanical components
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work on varied HVAC and mechanical systems
OSHA 10 certification
Valid driver’s license with the ability to safely operate a company vehicle
Ability to follow structured PM checklists and service procedures accurately
Preferred Skills & Experience
Experience servicing walk‑in coolers, freezers, condensers, and similar equipment
Familiarity with diagnosing airflow and fuel‑related issues
Comfort working with basic electrical systems and testing equipment
Strong troubleshooting skills with a focus on identifying root causes
Clear communication skills for discussing findings and recommendations with clients
Reliability and attention to detail in documentation and reporting
Willingness to participate in after‑hours on‑call rotation
Schedule & Work Environment
Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
On‑call rotation approximately once every six weeks, covering Monday 4:30 PM through the following Monday 7:30 AM
Paid for all hours worked while on call
Work performed at various commercial and industrial customer sites
Hands‑on field role involving mechanical and HVAC equipment, including walk‑in coolers and freezers, condensers, compressors, pumps
Electrical testing tools for amps and voltages
Travel between sites using a company‑provided vehicle
Uniforms provided; annual boot allowance included

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.
