Teacher- Intermediate (Grades 3-5)

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School is looking for an Intermediate Teacher for the 2026-2027 School Year. The teacher is responsible for creating an appropriate educational atmosphere that encourages positive student learning and collaborating with classroom teachers, administrators, curriculum specialists, and other staff members in the development and implementation of the school’s programs and goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Work with administrators and instructional teams to plan and implement hands‑on lesson plans for students.

Diagnose and analyze for the purpose of providing appropriate instruction.

Utilize a variety of instructional techniques to meet the individual needs of students.

Assess student progress in accordance with the approved procedures of the Diocese of Orlando.

Utilize classroom management techniques conducive to an effective classroom climate.

Participate in the Diocese of Orlando Diocesan Catechist Certification Program and in the school‑sponsored professional development programs.

Cooperate with the principal and staff members in school‑related meetings, activities and projects.

Maintain accurate student academic records and attendance records.

Maintain a safe, orderly, and secure learning and working environment.

Participate in the performance review based upon the implementation of the general responsibilities of a professional educator in a school.

Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students, and general school matters.

Maintain professional relationships between the school and parents.

Maintain contact with parents through parent‑teacher conferences, telephone, or written communications.

Encourage parental involvement through school activities, connecting home and school.

Maintain all records as required, including but not limited to grade books, attendance records, and student progress reports.

Assist in the protection of student and school property.

Keep up to date on current technology as job appropriate, being used by Diocese Catholic Schools.

Monitor students in a testing environment.

Maintain timely and accurate information relevant to job responsibilities.

Perform all tasks in accordance with Diocesan Catholic Schools policies.

Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college recognized as acceptable for Florida certification.

Must hold or obtain a professional certificate in the subject area taught within three years of hire.

Documented progress towards certification must be made within the first year of hire and filed in the school personnel file; otherwise the teaching contract cannot be renewed.

Must hold or obtain Faith Fit Enrichment Certification in Levels 1, 2, and 3 within three years of hire and continue ongoing enrichment.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to listen to and understand information presented verbally or in writing.

Strong command of the written and spoken English language.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed mostly indoors in an environmentally controlled setting.

Work is performed in a busy and occasionally noisy environment.

Work is performed directly on school campuses.

Works frequently in close physical proximity to others and may encounter work in enclosed or tight spaces.

The ability to sit and stand for long periods of time; reach, grasp, feel, and see up close and from afar.

Use of basic office computer hardware and peripherals is required.

Ability to communicate verbally and in written form.

Tasks require light physical effort in sedentary to light work, which may involve lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling objects and materials of light weight (15 pounds).
