Job Duties
The Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) offers the Operations Support Assistant position in the Appeals Division. Responsibilities include processing incoming and outgoing Appeals Division mail, assisting with monthly supply inventory, supporting walk‑in customers, and handling correspondence in the Appeals Information Management System (AIMS). The candidate will also utilize systems such as AIMS, Virginia Case Management System (VaCMS), and Medicaid Enterprise System (MES). Key duties involve providing excellent customer service, ensuring due process for every appellant, and supporting a collaborative, positive work environment. This position reports to the Intake Supervisor and requires an onsite presence; telework is not permitted.
The role is an hourly/wage position with a maximum of 29 average work hours per week and a limit of 1500 hours during the employment year. Health insurance, retirement, and leave benefits are not included.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience and/or knowledge of programs, operations, and administrative policies in a law office, court system, or government agency.
Considerable experience using office equipment and software, such as scanners.
Experience planning and coordinating administrative and support services.
Experience utilizing workflow tools, including supply requisition.
Considerable experience with technology, including MS Office.
Experience interpreting federal and state laws, regulations, and policy.
Experience in managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
Experience with internal and external stakeholders.
Additional Considerations
Experience utilizing case management systems.
Mailroom experience.
