Job Summary
We are hiring an experienced
Deep Hole Drilling Operator
to set up and operate CNC deep hole drilling equipment in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. This role is critical to producing precision components that meet tight tolerances and quality standards.
Responsibilities
Set up and operate deep hole drilling machines (gun drilling, STS systems, Eldorado, DeHoff)
Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical drawings
Select tooling, fixtures, feeds, and speeds based on material and job requirements
Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain tolerances and surface finish
Perform in‑process inspections using micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, and borescopes
Maintain coolant flow, filtration systems, and chip evacuation
Troubleshoot machining issues (tool wear, deflection, bore deviation)
Document production and inspection results
Perform basic machine maintenance and keep work area clean
Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required (technical training preferred)
Minimum 2 years of CNC machining experience
Deep hole drilling or gun drilling experience strongly preferred
Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T
Strong knowledge of cutting tools, materials, feeds, and speeds
Experience using precision measuring tools
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Preferred Skills
Experience with gun drilling, STS, or honing processes
Familiarity with CNC controls (Fanuc, Siemens, or similar)
Basic troubleshooting and machine maintenance experience
Crane or hoist experience
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Frequent bending, reaching, and handling of materials
Work Environment
Manufacturing shop environment with exposure to noise, coolant, and moving machinery
Required use of PPE (safety glasses, steel‑toe boots, hearing protection)
