Main Purpose of Job
Provide non-emergency medical transportation for the Caroline County Health Department in a safe, professional, efficient and courteous manner.

Responsibilities

Operate automotive vehicles to transport passengers, patients, or clients.

Perform and record vehicle safety checks, operational logs, and records.

Maintain cleanliness, functionality, and safety of vehicle and its components.

Assist clients with wheelchair lifts, positioning, and securing patients in vehicle.

Minimum Qualifications

Six months of experience operating automotive vehicles transporting passengers, patients, or clients.

Alternate: U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Vehicle Operations classifications or Motor Transport or Vehicle Operations specialty codes in the passenger transporting field of work on a year‑for‑year basis.

Desired or Preferred Qualifications

Experience performing, recording, maintaining and submitting vehicle safety checks, operational logs and records.

Experience ensuring cleanliness, functionality and safety of vehicle and its components.

Experience moving clients on wheelchair lifts into and out of the vehicle as well as positioning and securing patients and clients in vehicles.

Licenses, Registrations and Certifications

Class C non-commercial driver's license valid in the State of Maryland.

Those operating large passenger vehicles must possess the appropriate driver’s license class valid in Maryland.

Maintain current certification of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, violence management, and basic first aid training.

Special Requirements

May be subject to call-in 24 hours a day; must provide a reachable telephone number.

Possible duties involving operation of a vehicle with a manual transmission.

Subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Maryland regulations.
