We are seeking temporary personnel to provide classroom and lab instruction aboard the T.S. EMPIRE STATE during the summer training program. Instruction will cover hands‑on Refrigeration, HVAC, and Electrical curricula.

Responsibilities

Deliver curriculum to underclass engineers in Refrigeration, HVAC and electrical subjects.

Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.

Ensure all training activities meet safety standards and promote a safe learning environment.

Maintain detailed records of attendance, assessments and participant progress throughout the program.

Adapt to daily scheduling changes throughout the Summer Sea Term appointment period.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

Mechanical / HVAC / Refrigeration / Electrical or Marine engineering background with strong mechanical knowledge.

Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching a professional subject matter.

Demonstrated efficient communication skills.

U.S. Passport.

Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC).

Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC).

Valid Medical Certificate (issued with MMC; must be renewed every 2 years).

Drug testing in accordance with Title 46 CFR 16.210 will be conducted Pier Side.

All required documentation must be provided before the effective date of appointment. If documentation is not provided, the application will no longer be considered.

All dates for U.S. Passport, TWIC, MMC, and Medical Certificate must be valid for the entirety of the anticipated appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience working in educational settings involving hands‑on training or industrial environments.

Additional Information
The full cruise appointment is anticipated to begin April 27, 2026 and end July 20, 2026. Applicants may also apply for the following opportunities:

Cruise A (April 27, 2026 – June 09, 2026)

Cruise B (June 10, 2026 – July 20, 2026)

Full Cruise (April 27, 2026 – July 20, 2026)

Salary is based on a daily rate and will commensurate with license, certification and experience. Meals are included; travel expenses may be reimbursed on a case‑by‑case basis. The position is temporary and FLSA exempt, not eligible for overtime provisions. Internal and external searches will occur simultaneously.
