
Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant will support the accounting and financial reporting functions for a portfolio of real estate assets. This role is responsible for assisting with month-end close, maintaining accurate general ledger activity, and preparing property-level financials. The position works closely with property management and finance teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Responsibilities
Prepare journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and reclassifications
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
Maintain the general ledger and perform account reconciliations, including bank and balance sheet accounts
Prepare monthly financial statements for assigned properties and analyze variances to budget and prior periods
Track rental income, operating expenses, and capital expenditures, ensuring accurate recording
Support accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice coding and tenant payment tracking
Maintain organized financial records and support audit and tax requests
Collaborate with property management and asset management teams to resolve discrepancies
Ensure adherence to internal controls and company accounting policies
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
One to three years of accounting experience is preferred, with exposure to real estate or property accounting considered a plus.
A foundational understanding of GAAP and strong Excel skills are expected.
Experience with real estate accounting systems such as Yardi or MRI Software is a plus.
