Position Title: Coffee Shop Barista - PT
Department: Culinary/Hospitality
Location: Lincoln
Under the general direction and supervision of the Culinary/Hospitality Program Director and Coffee Shop Manager, the Coffee Shop Barista will perform duties and various activities as needed within the coffee shop as deemed necessary. This is a part‑time regular position.
Essential Functions
Assists the Managers and or the Chef in necessary activities needed in the coffee shop service operations and educational program courses.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary facility as an example for the Culinary/Hospitality program students and guests.
Keep all equipment clean and well‑maintained.
Wash and sanitize dishes, cooking utensils, and food service equipment, practicing safe and sanitary methods. Replace equipment in the proper area.
Make sure the coffee shop is properly set up for service.
Supporting and maintaining the standards of the Culinary/Hospitality program, the Great Plains Culinary Institute, and the Course Ground Coffee shop.

Marginal Functions
Assist in performing the essential functions of co‑workers’ positions in their absence.
Perform other College functions and duties as assigned.
Must be able to work varied days, hours, shifts, locations, and campuses as required. Work schedules may vary based on the needs of Southeast Community College and are subject to modification. Emergency or scheduled special activities may require hours outside of the regular workweek.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of and experience in quantity and quality food preparation, ingredient functions, recipe conversion, food cost control, and sanitation and safety standards.
Knowledge of and ability to practice safe and sanitary food and equipment handling techniques.
Ability to complete and keep current the Lancaster County Food Handler Permit by the first day of employment.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing, in person, and on the phone.
Ability to use basic computer skills.
Ability to lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds for short distances and move tables, chairs, and media equipment when necessary.
The individual must possess the above skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Lancaster County Food Handlers Permit by the first day of employment.
Desired Qualifications
Experience working in a coffee shop or restaurant.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary: $15.32 per hour.
Part‑time regular employees are eligible to participate in the TIAA retirement plan. Part‑time employees may enroll in supplemental benefits and the group vision plan through employee‑paid premiums.
Normal hours of work for this part‑time regular position are scheduled by the College generally between 6:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, based on a 29‑hour workweek. Scheduled special activities, emergencies, or temporary schedule changes may require hours outside of the regular workday or workweek.
Background Check
Southeast Community College will require a Criminal History Background Check prior to final offer.
