
Farm Technician

The Farm Technician is responsible for supporting continuous production operations by maintaining, inspecting, and repairing all mechanical and facility systems with minimal disruption. This role is critical to ensuring biosecurity integrity, equipment reliability, and overall site functionality. The Maintenance Technician works closely with Operations and external vendors to maintain safe, efficient, and compliant facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Biosecurity & Compliance
Comply with all VALO BioMedia N.A. biosecurity policies, procedures, and protocols.
Adhere to and support enforcement of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Prevent biosecurity breaches related to mechanical malfunction or system failure.
Properly clean, disinfect, and document facility sanitation activities as scheduled or directed.
Maintenance & Mechanical Systems
Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all mechanical systems, including feed, water, sewer, filtration, heating, and ventilation systems.
Maintain positive-pressure air handling and heating systems to ensure proper temperature and pressure control.
Perform building updates, facility repairs, and structural modifications as directed by management.
Assist with disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, and disinfection of equipment.
Willingness to learn and operate VALO BioMedia–specific control software.
Facility & Grounds Maintenance
Maintain site property, including weed control, lawn mowing, road repairs, and general grounds upkeep.
Perform general facility repairs to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Operations Support
Assist with flock husbandry programs, house cleaning, and general maintenance during the absence of the House Manager, following SOPs.
Assist with feed delivery, including washing and disinfecting delivery trucks, climbing feed bins using proper PPE, and completing required documentation.
Assist with depopulation, manure removal, bird transfers, and chick delivery as directed by management.
Participate in a rotational on-call schedule for alarm response, with support from Operations and/or vendors as needed.
Inventory & Coordination
Order supplies and schedule delivery of materials to support maintenance projects and operational needs.
Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to ensure timely completion of work.
Reporting Structure
Reports directly to the Operations Manager.

Physical & Work Requirements
Ability to lift, carry, and hold up to 50 pounds.
Willingness and ability to work weekends and respond to after-hours alarms as required.
Physically able to pass a Pulmonary Function Test, Respirator Fit Test, and Physical Pre-Placement Exam.
Comfortable working in agricultural and bio secure environments.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED required.
Prior experience in poultry operations, biological production, manufacturing, or regulated environments preferred.
Experience working in environments requiring strict SOP adherence strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Willingness to learn general plumbing, construction, and basic electrical work.
Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate documentation.
Strong attention to safety, cleanliness, and compliance.
