Job Title: Assistant Football Coach
Reports To: Head Football Coach & Athletic Director
Summary
The assistant football coach will assist with all aspects of the high school program, including coordinating the middle school program to develop the feeder system. The coach is responsible for teaching athletes techniques, skills, and strategies that prepare them for competition.
Job Responsibilities
Hold organizational meetings for team recruitment.
Develop a pre‑season schedule including conditioning, strength training, and skill development.
Work with administration to develop the season schedule.
Ensure paperwork is completed for the athletic department.
Conduct tryouts for the football program.
Develop practice plans and schedules.
Coach and instruct players on rules, regulations, and skills.
Develop individual and team strategies based on personnel.
Monitor academic progress of student athletes.
Coordinate with athletic trainer to help injured athletes return.
Model good sportsmanship and conduct, expect the same from players.
Maintain standing with NLCS, HHC, IHSAA, and IFCA.
Assist players aiming to play at the next level (eligibility and recruiting).
Recruit athletes to play football and encourage participation in multiple sports.
Monitor development of athletes academically and athletically.
Develop and maintain a social media presence.
Work with local media to promote the sport.
Complete end‑of‑season checklist promptly.
Host end‑of‑season banquet or event.
Promote student athletes for postseason awards (HHC, All-State, Academic All-State).
Assist the athletic director with hosting IHSAA events.
Coordinate off‑season training opportunities.
Qualifications
Experience in football as a player and/or coach preferred.
Knowledge of football techniques, strategies, and skills.
Valid teaching certificate and bachelor’s degree preferred.
Passion for working with student athletes and the sport of football.
Background check and completed checklist required.
