
Cybersecurity System Administrator - Aerospace Research

As a Cybersecurity System Administrator, you will be an important member of the GE Aerospace Research Cybersecurity team. This is a hands‑on technical role that will require you to leverage your knowledge of cybersecurity, computer systems, networking and software to design, build, and operate high technology computing environments in support of business goals and in compliance with company/industry standards and regulatory requirements. This role will report to the GE Aerospace Research Cybersecurity Leader.
Roles and Responsibilities
Be responsible for managing the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems. Serves as a front‑line interface to users with technical issues.
Maintain the integrity and security of servers and systems. Conducts systems analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies.
Make recommendations for hardware and software purchases. Interacts with third‑party technology vendors.
Duties may include installing new software, troubleshooting, granting permissions to applications and training users.
Perform Server administration for Server Operating Systems. Performs OS and vendor software patching on servers & PCs. Create/run scripts and tools to automate repetitive processes and provide inputs for improvements.
Perform administration of physical and virtualized servers. Responsible for the configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of physical and virtual hardware. Monitors Physical and Virtual Servers performance using monitoring tools.
Perform, maintain, troubleshoot and do analysis of alerts on Servers & PCs. Troubleshoot network hardware and software applications, OS upgrades, and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services.
Perform administration of servers & PCs in lab environments that are physical and virtualized using industry standard technologies. Install new software, grant permissions to applications and train users. Handle all levels of support.
Serve as a Data Transfer Agent (DTA) for all programs.
Assist with installation and support of network equipment.
Perform other technical and/or non‑technical tasks as required.
Education Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university or college with minimum of 1 year of professional experience OR Associates degree with minimum of 4 years of professional experience OR High School Diploma with minimum of 6 years of professional experience.
Note: Military experience is equivalent to professional experience.

Required Qualifications
System Administration experience from hardware to applications (operating systems, storage technologies, software, etc.)
Domain and directory services management
Proficient with maintaining best practice environments of physical and virtual systems (VMware, Netapp, Dell, HP, Cisco)
Understanding of Networked Storage (NAS, SAN)
Hands‑on experience with backup systems, risk management, and data recovery.
Hardware/Software asset management
Demonstrated ability to assist in developing and implementing plans for upgrades and system enhancements
Strong troubleshooting skills
Understanding of standard DoD security practices such as STIG compliance, SCAP scans & benchmarks, SSPs, RMF, CUI compliance, and system accreditation efforts
Experience with modern encryption and security mechanisms including MFA, PKI
Willingness to learn and take on new challenges
Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires the individual to have a current or active Secret Clearance with an ability to attain a Top‑Secret Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship.
Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY
Must be 18 years or older
Must be willing to travel occasionally

The base pay range for this position is $86,000- $120,000 USD Annua l. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan.
