Construction Manager – Solar Projects

We’re looking for an experienced Construction Manager with strong solar construction experience to lead a major on‑site project from the field. In this role, you’ll be the boots‑on‑the‑ground leader ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards—while playing a key role in the global energy transition.

What You’ll Be Doing
Lead daily construction activities on an active solar jobsite
Prepare clear, accurate daily field reports (labor, materials, equipment, schedule, safety)
Ensure projects stay on schedule and on budget through cost tracking and forecasting
Coordinate between field teams, project managers, engineering, finance, and customers
Review subcontractor and vendor bids for scope, schedule, and cost
Support planning efforts including scope, scheduling, and installation strategy
Maintain strong client relationships while meeting contractual expectations
Manage subcontractors and vendors to ensure quality and timely delivery
Update and track project schedules, including critical path activities
Promote a strong safety culture and document site observations
Use Procore, including Daily Logs, to keep stakeholders aligned
Qualifications
Solar construction experience (required)
5+ years of relevant experience with a degree, technical schooling, or solar certification OR 10+ years of relevant construction experience
Background in electrical, civil, or wireless/telecom infrastructure
Strong understanding of construction scheduling, cost control, and financial compliance
Experience working directly with customers and subcontractors
Proficient with Procore
Organized, reliable, and comfortable working in the field
Work Environment
Full‑time, on‑site position at a solar construction project located at a Department of Corrections facility
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Active outdoor/semi‑outdoor construction site
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $56.00 - $63.00/hr.
