Tennessee Roadway Leader

We are currently searching for an experienced Tennessee Roadway Leader to support our East Gulf Region located in Brentwood/Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga, or Memphis, TN. Candidates must be willing to relocate to Tennessee if out of state.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, 15 years of relevant DOT roadway design and plan production experience.

What you’ll be doing:

Principal in Charge for all transportation planning, design, and plan production for our Tennessee locations (marketing and operations)

Be a practice builder - growing services, clients, and geography

Serve as the lead with key client and contract management

Recruit, develop, and retain Tennessee roadway staff

Manage transportation projects to meet financial and technical requirements

Writing proposals

Participating in and/or leading interviews

Performing contract negotiations

Project work planning

Supervising the execution of work

Lead the Quality Control/Quality Assurance process for all projects

Prepare and deliver technical presentations

Participate in marketing and business development

What you need to have:

BS degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university

PE is required (Tennessee PE preferred)

A minimum of 15-20 years of relevant DOT roadway design and plan production experience. (TDOT experience preferred)

Must have proven skills in meeting DOT expectations, schedules, and budgets

Experienced in DOT design methods, plan production, standards, and specifications

Proven leadership, communication, mentoring, and client liaison skills

Proficient with OpenRoads Designer

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines

If applicable to the position, a post offer fit for duty evaluation to ensure the individual can safely perform the essential functions of the role

Valid driver's license

A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
