The Yard Operator works in the yard loading and unloading customer orders and machines in a manner that reflects the company’s vision of working as “One Professional Team.”
Pay Rate: $21.00-$26.68 per hour.
Pay is based upon experience and education.
Essential Functions:
Fills out ship/receive reports
Obtains rental agreements, does safety sheets, and SMM and license plates
Ships and receives work tools from Caterpillar/Venders/Branches/etc.
Controls transfers to/from shops for attachments
Enters information into DBS for attachments
Fills out log
Enter data entry of work tools
Inquiries about inventory
Coordinates Shipping and Receiving of work tools with Parts Dept. & Trucks entering Yard area
Coordinates with the Sales Dept. transfers and movement of work tools
Answers phone calls from all departments, customers, and sales staff
Interacts with customers
Assists walk-in customers when needed as well as customers on the phone
Blocks up loads
Chains down loads
Lift loads with variety of equipment
Inspects work tool condition
Performs minor repairs and adjustments to work tools
Unloads railcars offsite at rail yard; keeps yard in order
Puts numbers in windows of machines
Blades yard
Removes snow inside fence
Dirt and waters yard
Loads and unloads attachments
Ensures machines are ready
Operates forklift for shops and customers
Fuels machines, checks fluid levels, and jump starts machines
Controls physical inventory and counts inventory of attachments
Other duties as assigned by manager
Required Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED
1+ years customer service experience
1+ years machine service/maintenance
1+ years machine operating skills
1+ years forklift operation
Physical Demands & Competencies:
Standing, walking, talking, sitting, use of hands & hearing
Data Entry, telephone, reading/writing, reasoning, organizational, communication & math skills
Safety & Product Knowledge
Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, etc.
Heavy work that includes lifting and/or moving objects up to 60 pounds or more
Work Environment:
Noise: Loud
Indoors and Outdoors
Small and/or enclosed spaces
Travel Requirements:
50%-75%
