What you will be doing
Professionally maintain all heavy equipment associated with the construction and maintenance of highways, secondary roads and rural airports including motor graders, loaders, dump trucks, roller compactors, sand spreaders, backhoes, and tractor‑trailer combinations.
This advanced journey level mechanic position requires diagnosing, repairing and maintaining a wide variety of heavy trucks and equipment for the State Fleet. The incumbent must perform computerized diagnostics and repair electronic and mechanical systems, resolve unusual or complex equipment problems, and routinely conduct repair and maintenance on diverse heavy equipment.

Who we are looking for
Mechanical:
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repair, and maintenance.
Flexibility:
Open to change, adapts quickly to new information and changing conditions.
Vehicle Maintenance:
Knowledge of motor vehicle engines, parts, and systems, including design, use, repair and maintenance.
Self‑Management:
Sets well‑defined and realistic personal goals; works with minimal supervision; demonstrates initiative, effort, and commitment.
Special Notice
Class “A” commercial driver’s license (CDL) is required.
Steel‑toed boots or other approved protection to avoid injuries from dropped or fallen objects.
ETT 40‑hour course; ARFF training including a 40‑hour course and medical evaluation for self‑contained breathing apparatus. Training in Wildlife Hazards at Airports will be provided after hire.
Knowledge of firearm usage and ammunition handling is required.
Ability to perform Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) duties in support of Part 139.
Documents required at time of interview
A copy of your Class A CDL, front and back (if applicable).
Three professional references – include name, title and phone number.
Tool allowance
Employees are required to provide their own hand tools and will receive a bi‑weekly tool allowance of $69.23 as determined by LTC contract.
Arms & Ammunition requirement
This position requires the use of firearms or ammunition. Candidates convicted of a misdemeanor domestic‑violence crime may not hold this position per federal law.
Education
Education is used to meet required minimum qualifications. If you have not obtained a degree, indicate the number of units completed. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable if the institution’s name is listed. Transcripts may be attached at application or interview time.
