Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled maintenance mechanic to support all aspects of facilities maintenance for buildings and grounds, with a primary focus on the maintenance and repair of all equipment. This includes all auxiliary equipment to support operations for life safety systems, production, general building, compressed air, cooling towers, HVAC systems, lighting, restrooms, water systems, and grounds maintenance.
Qualifications
18 years or older
High school diploma, GED or equivalent
Vocational school graduate preferred but comparable skills and experience also considered
4 years of general maintenance and repair experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education that has provided comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities
Ability to operate a forklift (if the position requires)
Must be able to read, write, and perform basic math
Must possess thorough understanding of all production and facility equipment
Must possess general knowledge of machines and tools, including designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
General mechanical and electrical aptitude and knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology
Must have machine shop skills
Regular, reliable, predictable attendance
Review and adhere to all Carolina Canners policies, including safety and Good Manufacturing Policies
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
Excellent attention to detail/accuracy and multitasking skills
Must be self‑motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
Basic computer skills
Responsibilities
Perform all applicable maintenance duties, including mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and inspection of all facility equipment.
Assemble, install, replace, modify, adjust, and maintain all production and facility equipment as needed.
Perform and complete all Carolina Canners preventative and reactive maintenance programs.
Analyze all available mechanical data to detect, diagnose, and correct machine errors, defects, and malfunctions.
Maintain knowledge of processes and equipment.
Maintain records of service cycles and other maintenance activities conducted.
Perform breakdown analysis.
Work with outside contractors.
Efficiently manage time and complete all tasks assigned by supervisor.
Effectively communicate with supervisors and co‑employees concerning all aspects of the maintenance function.
Ensure product and/or supplies are being handled in a sanitary method consistent with GMPs and properly packaged.
Maintain a clean work area through good housekeeping practices.
Work well with others in a team‑oriented atmosphere.
Complete other related duties as assigned.
