General summary: Under direction, perform maintenance of the treatment plant to ensure continual safe and efficient operation; maintain sewer pipes, manholes, and pump stations.

Responsibilities
Normal Maintenance of the Treatment Plant
Fix and rebuild equipment (e.g., welding tanks, fixing drive shafts, large pumps, air compressors, generator, snow blower, pressure washer, lawn mower, camera truck, hoses). Use a high‑level understanding of the plant process to prioritize and strategize maintenance. Source and order parts, fabricate parts that can’t be found, weld and fabricate structures. Maintain large pumps (check oil, replace sealant), gearboxes (grease, fix when broken), underground pipes, and building maintenance (replace lights, tile floors, paint walls, polish and wax floors, replace ballasts). Check pumps on, sealed, and pumping daily; check bar screen daily; check comminuter; check blowers, oil levels, hours run; check for leaks; rinse utility screen; clean the bar screen; distribute work orders and maintain databases.

Maintenance at Pump Stations
Examine Echo Graphs computer system and create reports for the superintendent. Problem‑solve pipe leaks based on echo‑graphs data. Check pumps, change oil, record hours of use, run generators to ensure proper operation; add chemicals as needed.

Televise Sewers
Record sewer conditions for maintenance; manage and maintain a database of televised sewer recordings; convert VHS recordings to CD or DVD for customers. Clean sewer lines using TV and grout equipment, maintain database recording sewer problems and solutions, clean pipes using a high-pressure hydraulic jet cleaner. Televise storm sewers for public works; operate mobile television and flusher truck for internal inspection of sewer lines. Inspect, clean, and repair manholes; update sewer maps and manhole charts; locate lines to inspect; identify infiltration points and defects; photograph irregularities.

Interact with Vendors and Residents
Obtain equipment, replacement parts, and chemicals from vendors; respond to calls from residents; communicate the problem and take action to fix it.

Mix Chemicals
Mix chemicals required for plant processes while using safety equipment—apron, rubber gloves, respirator, goggles, face shield.

Work in Manholes
Maintain confined space training; monitor gas levels in manhole, ventilate if needed; assist other agencies; remain in contact with workers in the hole; CPR/first aid training.

Respond to Emergencies
Respond to pump station alarms, reset breakers after outages; address emergency sewer problems (back‑ups).

Et Cetera
Carry out winter responsibilities: drain hoses, remove hoses from lines, erect building over bar screen, apply heat tracing to prevent freezing, thaw pipes with utility water blast, snow plow, change oil from summer to winter. Lockout/tagout training; mark Pennsylvania One call system locations; respond to emergency Pennsylvania One calls.

Cross‑Training
Participate in on‑the‑job or structured training to increase knowledge and experience in plant operations; stay current on changing plant operation methods and safety practices.

Work Schedule
Willing to work weekends, holidays, and after normal business hours. Flexible schedule and ability to respond to on‑call emergencies within 45 minutes.

Education & Experience
Previous industrial mechanical and/or electrical maintenance repair experience preferred. Valid PA driver’s license required.
