Minimum Qualifications

One (1) year of employment experience working in a professional office environment performing administrative or clerical functions.

One (1) year of employment experience communicating with internal and external customers, both verbally and in writing.

One (1) year of employment experience preparing correspondence and documentation.

Computer proficiency and demonstrable experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel) and the use of web‑based software.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to research policies and procedures and communicate findings.

Ability and desire to work in a fast‑paced, team environment.

Ability to multi‑task, prioritize and meet deadlines.

Ability to act on changing priorities and responsibilities.

Ability to communicate effectively in English: reading, writing, speaking, and understanding.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable (AP/AR) functions.

Experience in resolving complex accounting issues.

Knowledge of local, state, and federal requirements related to business office operations, financial reporting and financial record keeping.

Experience in a long‑term health care environment (nursing home, skilled nursing, or assisted living facility).

Experience with medical finance (medical billing, claims processing, etc.).

Experience using State of Florida software systems: FLAIR, MatrixCare, and MFMP.

Position Description

The incumbent performs duties involving the independent application of accounting skills and coordination of fiscal‑related matters under the supervision of the Business Manager.

Monitors and ensures accurate census count with current payer source.

Provides timely reports as designated by facility administration and/or Headquarters.

Responsible for performing accounts payable and/or accounts receivable functions to support business office staff, including, but not limited to:
Maintenance of the Resident Trust Fund account.

Preparation of monthly, quarterly and end‑of‑fiscal‑year financial reports.

Processing invoices, vouchers, and payments for bills.

Assisting and/or backing up the Business Manager as directed.

Reviewing requisitions for supplies/equipment to assure expenditures are within the established budget and in accordance with Department purchasing guidelines, regulations, standards, and Florida Statutes.

Compiling and preparing reports to verify the accuracy of monies collected and deposited into resident & facility accounts.

Ensuring monies are forwarded to the Department’s Fiscal Officer.

Filing inquiries, reconsiderations and appeals to the appropriate agency or individual(s) for rejected statements.

Performing other related duties as required and providing support to other facility administrative staff as directed.
