We are seeking an experienced
Controller
to join our leadership team and oversee the financial health of the organization. This role is responsible for managing accounting, tax, treasury, and insurance functions while ensuring compliance, accuracy, and strategic financial oversight.
What You’ll Do
Leadership & Team Management
Lead and mentor Accounting and Treasury teams, fostering a culture of accountability and growth
Set departmental goals, conduct performance reviews, and support employee development
Oversee staffing decisions, including hiring, promotions, and performance management
Accounting & Reporting
Direct general accounting and accounts payable operations
Ensure accurate financial reporting in compliance with FERC standards and regulatory requirements
Prepare and review reports for internal leadership, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders
Tax & Compliance
Oversee compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
Coordinate tax filings and maintain strong relationships with taxing authorities
Insurance & Risk Management
Manage corporate insurance programs and evaluate coverage
Oversee claims processing and work with brokers and underwriters
Treasury & Financial Operations
Supervise cash flow, investments, and financing compliance
Ensure accurate and timely cash position reporting
Manage sponsor billing and collections in accordance with contractual agreements
Process Improvement & Compliance
Stay current with accounting standards and recommend process improvements
Ensure adherence to company policies, safety regulations, and ethical standards
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
8–10 years of experience in accounting/finance (utility industry preferred)
Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing teams
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and FERC regulations
Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
CPA certification
Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance
