General Engineer

North South Consulting Group, LLC (NSCG) is seeking an experienced General Engineer to support planning, design, construction, and lifecycle management of healthcare, VA facilities within a federal environment located in Long Beach, CA. This role requires a highly analytical and innovative professional capable of balancing complex engineering principles with operational and mission-driven requirements.
*This position is contingent upon contract award.
You will play a critical role in delivering safe, compliant, and efficient healthcare environments by leading design efforts, providing technical oversight, and managing construction and maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities
Determine project requirements, conduct site reconnaissance, and develop designs, specifications, and cost estimates.
Perform and/or direct surveys and investigations to establish baseline data for design.
Analyze data and integrate key factors into practical and innovative engineering solutions.
Apply advanced engineering principles to resolve complex conflicts between design standards and operational needs.
Perform detailed technical calculations and identify cost-effective and efficient design approaches.
Provide technical guidance and professional advice to engineers, project teams, and non-technical stakeholders.
Recommend and implement improvements to design and construction approaches.
Mentor and advise team members on methodologies for complex engineering challenges.
Provide oversight and project management for construction and maintenance initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 7 years General Engineer experience.
Must be familiar with patient Centered Care Culture in healthcare.
A bachelor’s degree in engineering.
Knowledge of healthcare design and understanding of fire codes, building codes, barrier free codes, system, components, cleaning and maintenance concepts, ergonomics and safety criteria.
The ability to review and interpret blueprints and specifications.
Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access & Outlook) is required.
VISTA (Use the Veterans Health Information & Technology Architecture to access information in the Medical Center Computer System) is beneficial but not required.
Must be able to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with a variety of contractors, management officials, vendors, Contracting Officers, and Long Beach staff.
US Citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer license.
Experience with:
Microsoft Project
Revit
VistA (Veterans Health Information & Technology Architecture)
Familiarity with patient-centered healthcare environments.
Microsoft Project and Revit are beneficial but not required.
Work Arrangement
Onsite in Long Beach, CA. Relocation allowance not provided.
Schedule is flexible; however, candidates must be available for core project coordination, required meetings, deadlines, and travel as needed.
Compensation
