Student Services Supervisor of Intervention ($101,006+)
Dorchester County Public Schools is looking for a dynamic Supervisor of Intervention to play a pivotal role in shaping how we intervene when students need us the most. This position is located at the Central Office in Cambridge, Maryland and is part of the district’s ambitious “Believe in Us: Achieving Our Potential Together” strategic plan.

Reports to the Director of Student Services. Supervises School Social Workers, Pupil Personnel Workers (PPW’s), mental Health Services Coordinator, and assigned staff.

Performance Responsibilities

Lead development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Tier 3 intervention systems aligned with MTSS and the district strategic plan.

Ensure a coordinated, district-wide approach to intensive student supports—including attendance interventions, behavioral supports, and mental‑health services.

Develop systems to ensure timely identification, referral, and response for students in need of intensive support.

Supervise and evaluate school social workers, PPWs, and the Mental Health Services Coordinator.

Ensure staff implement intervention practices with fidelity and alignment to district expectations.

Provide professional learning and support focused on crisis response, intervention strategies, and compliance requirements.

Oversee district-wide attendance intervention processes, including truancy, legal compliance, and enforcement.

Ensure accurate implementation of policies and procedures related to attendance, residency, and pupil accounting.

Collaborate with schools and external agencies to address chronic absenteeism through targeted intervention.

Coordinate district-wide mental‑health services and partnerships with community providers.

Oversee crisis response protocols and behavioral threat assessment processes in alignment with state requirements.

Collaborate with law enforcement and community agencies to address safety and mental‑health concerns.

Oversee processes for alternative placements and supports for students requiring non‑traditional educational settings.

Ensure appropriate coordination of services for students with complex needs, including wrap‑around supports.

Monitor data related to attendance, discipline, mental‑health, and intervention outcomes to inform decision‑making.

Provide regular reports and recommendations to the Director of Student Services and district leadership.

Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations related to student services.

Review and support the development of policies and procedures related to intervention systems.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, education, or related field.

Pupil Personnel Worker endorsement and Administrator I endorsement or Supervisor of Pupil Personnel endorsement. Must complete either endorsement within one year of appointment if not currently held.

Licensure or certification as a School Social Worker, Pupil Personnel Worker, School Counselor, or related field (preferred).

Minimum of five years successful experience in student services, mental‑health, or related field.

Demonstrated leadership experience in crisis response, student intervention systems, or program supervision.

Knowledge of federal and state laws related to student services, attendance, discipline, and mental‑health.

Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work with multiple agencies.

Ability to make decisions in accordance with precedents, rules, and regulations.

Ability to apply board policy to daily work decisions, exercise good judgment, courtesy, and tact in dealing with all stakeholders.

Proficiency in computer and word‑processing skills, especially Microsoft Office Suite applications, Google Drive, etc.

Ability to work independently on routine, complex, and confidential tasks.

Good attendance record and willingness to work outside of general working hours occasionally.

Salary & Benefits
Salary: $101,006 per year.
