Job Description
DVISD’s Department of Human Resources must approve all requests for college/university education field placements, including Student Teaching, Observations, and Practicum placements. This position offers a limited number of stipends for students choosing Del Valle ISD as their teaching site, available only for the last semester of student teaching with an expectation to accept employment with DVISD, if offered. Students currently enrolled in a teacher degree program or an alternative certification program are eligible to student teach, complete classroom observations, or intern in DVISD. After submitting the Student Teacher/Observation/Intern Application, the Department of Human Resources will coordinate with the program coordinator and conduct a DPS Background Check. Placement is based on campus and teacher eligibility; not all applicants will be placed. Approved students will be required to attend a Student Teacher/Counselor Intern Orientation with Curriculum & Instruction and the Department of Human Resources, where official badge identification will be issued. Students cannot report to the campus until a badge is obtained from Human Resources. Student observers needing observation hours only must also complete the application and may report to the campus only after clearance from Human Resources.
