Job Description
General Statement:
Under limited supervision, employs classroom management techniques that result in an atmosphere for teaching/learning in which students can know what they are expected to do. Gives instruction to the students in the areas assigned by the principal. Reports to the Principal.
Key Responsibilities
Provide standards‑based general music instruction for students in grades K–5, including planning, assessment, and monitoring of student progress.
Plan and implement music instruction aligned with South Carolina music standards, including formative and summative assessments.
Serve as Director of The Pine Street Singers, an intermediate‑grade choir that meets before school hours once per week.
Prepare students for multiple in‑school, after‑school, and community outreach performances throughout the school year.
Coordinate and participate in school and community performance events representing Pine Street Elementary School.
Serve as Arts Integration Coordinator, designing and co‑teaching integrated K–5 lessons that align grade‑level academic standards with visual and performing arts standards.
Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support meaningful arts integration across content areas.
Assist with and support professional development in arts integration at both the school and district levels.
Schedule and facilitate monthly Fine Arts Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings.
Serve as Writer and Project Manager for the South Carolina Department of Education Arts Curricular Innovation Grant / Distinguished Arts Program (ACIG/DAP), including budgeting, implementation, documentation, and reporting.
Serve as Assistant Grant Manager for the Arts in Basic Curriculum (ABC) Arts Advancement Grant, emphasizing budgeting and reporting of funded activities.
Coordinate the Annual Artist(s)-in-Residence Program.
Chair the Pine Street Elementary Arts Steering Committee.
Manage South Carolina Arts Assessment Program responsibilities.
Collaborate with administrators, educators, artists, and community partners to support a comprehensive arts program.
Participate in evening, before‑school, and after‑school activities as required by performance and program needs.
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to instruction, programs, grants, and assessments.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or above.
Valid South Carolina teacher’s certificate in the assigned teaching area.
Certification in Elementary, Special Education, Early Childhood Education or related field.
Knowledgeable about the curriculum for Early Childhood and Elementary students and effective interventions to promote student achievement.
Essential Functions

Plan a program of study that meets individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students and state standards.
Establish clear objectives for all classroom activities and communicate them to students.
Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the location and student needs.
Provide a programmed system of homework to support and reinforce daily learning activities.
Utilize effective classroom management strategies.
Write lesson plans, daily and long‑term.
Utilize technology to enhance student learning.
Maintain a current teaching certificate and highly qualified status.
Assess students regularly and provide progress reports.
Diagnose learning disabilities with district specialists as needed.
Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records per law and policy.
Participate in staff development sessions.
Collaborate with parents and community to maintain positive relationships.
