Job Summary
To inspire and prepare each and every scholar with the confidence, courage, and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning. Provide instruction and support in the curriculum areas for which employed; make appropriate and equitable use of instructional resources and technologies; implement the goals and objectives of the district, school and/or program for which employed; maintain contact and communication with guardians/caregivers of scholars, working with them in the development of their scholar; design, deliver, and assess curriculum according to district guidelines; provide in‑person, synchronous and asynchronous learning when applicable and work collaboratively with others. Willing to participate in district and building leadership activities.
Responsibilities and Tasks
Implement Pre‑K (4‑5 years old) classes to include delivery and design of lessons that align with the curriculum and assessment practices of the Early Childhood & Family Education program.
Teaching practices align with a multiple‑tiered support system with the goal to develop school readiness skills.
Teach as a member of a classroom team to possibly include the following: a parent educator, Educational Support Professional (ESP) and possibly Early Childhood Special Education staff.
Provide leadership and work direction for ESP.
Maintain consistent communication with parents and work with them in the development of their child.
Maintain attractive and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
Attend and contribute to program staff meetings and training.
Implement Early Childhood Developmental Screening (as/if needed).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required.
MN teaching license in the appropriate field, or a valid MN teaching license in another field and willing to obtain an Out of Field Permission.
If not currently licensed, must be willing and eligible to apply for and receive a Tier 1 or 2.
Experience working with highly diverse populations.
Experience working with families of low socio‑economic status.
Experience working with young children with no or limited group experiences.
Bilingual Spanish, Hmong, Somali, or Vietnamese preferred.
Job Type Details
Job Type: Part‑time, hourly.
Work Schedule: Three Pre‑K (4‑5 year old) classes per week: M‑W‑F morning & afternoon (2.5 hour) classes and T‑TH morning (4 hour) classes; 34.1 hours per week includes class time, set‑up/take down, and prep. Hours may expand to include one evening class/week and one Saturday morning assignment per session.
Bargaining unit: Teachers.
