Job Description
Instruments & Controls Tech B plays a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of instrumentation and control systems that support Utilities Facilities. Working under direction, this position performs essential maintenance, calibration, testing, repairs, and commissioning of complex instrumentation and control devices. This is a hands‑on, mission‑critical role for someone who thrives on precision, problem‑solving, and making a real impact on daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

Perform required maintenance, calibration, testing, repairs, and commissioning to ensure the safe and reliable operation of all instrumentation and control systems associated with Utilities Facilities.

Conduct compliance audits and calibrations to ensure optimal accuracy of systems, records, and reports.

Diagnose issues and complete major repairs or equipment modifications to upgrade or improve existing systems.

Respond to emergency situations as they arise, taking swift and effective corrective action to restore system functionality and safety.

Support continuous improvement efforts by maintaining high standards of performance, accuracy, and operational reliability.

Qualifications
Education & Training

One‑year certificate or technical training from a college or technical school required.

Completion of a Technical School or Apprenticeship Program.

Experience

1–2 years of relevant experience.

Skills & Technical Expertise

Strong ability to test, troubleshoot, assess, calibrate, repair, and commission instrumentation and control systems, including:

Digital, analog, and pneumatic controls

Distributed Control Systems (DCS)

Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)

Discrete controls

Instrumentation such as transmitters, transducers, meters, and controllers

Ability to successfully complete the Utilities Department training regimen for this position within 12 months of hire.
