Job Overview
District 27 is seeking an enthusiastic and child‑centered educator to teach 4th grade reading at Shabonee School, a 3rd–5th grade building. This educator will work one half of the day teaching reading/LA to 4th grade students. Shabonee utilizes a team‑teaching approach, so this educator will share a class section of students with another teacher who teaches them math, science, and social studies during the other half of the day.
Responsibilities
Teach 4th grade reading/language arts for half a day.
Collaborate with a partner teacher for team‑teaching of the full day classroom.
Develop curriculum, assessments, and instruction aligned with district standards.
Participate in professional learning community meetings and collaborate on instructional strategies.
Qualifications
Valid IL PEL with Elementary Education endorsement.
Preferred: at least two years of prior elementary education experience.
Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to work in a team‑teaching environment.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary and benefits are covered by the District 27 Negotiated Agreement between the Board of Education and the Teachers Association. Salary will be determined based on experience and level of education. Multiple medical benefit plans are available to employees, considered exemplary compared to other districts.
