Key Responsibilities
Train and mentor new CDL drivers on
safe tanker operations
(chemical & petroleum)
Conduct
ride‑alongs
and on‑the‑road evaluations
Instruct proper
loading/unloading procedures , including pumps, hoses, and valves
Reinforce
hazmat handling, spill response, and PPE protocols
Ensure compliance with
DOT, FMCSA, EPA, and customer‑specific requirements
Evaluate driver readiness and provide
clear pass/fail recommendations
Coach drivers on
defensive driving, situational awareness, and risk mitigation
Assist with
refresher training
and remediation for current drivers when needed
Maintain accurate
training documentation and evaluations
Communicate closely with
Safety and Operations teams
Schedule & Flexibility
Part‑time, flexible schedule based on training needs
Mix of local and regional travel for ride‑alongs
Ideal for experienced drivers looking to step into a mentorship role
Qualifications & Experience
Valid Class A CDL with
X Endorsement (Hazmat & Tanker)
5+ years of chemical or liquid tanker experience (preferred for trainer role)
Strong safety record and clean MVR
Prior driver training or mentorship experience strongly preferred
Deep understanding of:
Bulk liquid surge and handling
Chemical compatibility & safety procedures
Loading/unloading at plants and terminals
Strong communication and coaching ability (this is not just driving—it’s teaching)
Ability to evaluate drivers objectively and enforce standards
