Melt Shop Production Shift Supervisor

Job Summary
This position is responsible for providing leadership guidance on establishing a productive, high‑performing, and safety‑conscious working environment in the Melt Shop Department. The role focuses on safety, environmental, production, cost, quality, and people management through continuous application of GBS principles.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure routine management efforts are followed and identify opportunities for improvement in processes, products, and production.

Standardize processes within the area of responsibility, including needs assessments, auditing, and coaching of production/quality improvement programs.

Provide training on ITS and 5S, and develop and implement cost and environmental control goals.

Develop and implement preventive maintenance and safety management processes and procedures.

Report any situations that may impact human health or the environment to the immediate supervisor.

Collaborate with the Melt Shop Superintendent and report directly to them.

Qualifications

Two‑year college degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or Material Science.

4 to 6 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment with exposure to standardization and production quality methods; or sufficient experience in lieu of a degree.

Working knowledge of steel manufacturing methods and heavy mill machinery.

Previous qualifying experience in Melt Shop operations is a must.

Basic knowledge of the business system and complex technical and engineering processes.

Ability to train and guide people; solid presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

People management skills are a must.
