Melt Shop Production Shift Supervisor

Job Overview
This role provides leadership guidance in establishing a productive, high‑performing, and safety‑conscious working environment in the Melt Shop, focusing on safety, environmental, production, cost, quality, and people management through GBS principles.

Responsibilities

Ensure routine management efforts are followed and identify opportunities for improvement in processes, products, and production.

Standardize processes within the area of responsibility, including needs assessments, auditing, and coaching of production/quality improvement programs.

Provide ITS training, lead 5S improvements, and develop/implement cost and environmental control goals.

Develop and implement preventive maintenance and safety management processes and procedures.

Report any situations that may impact human health or the environment to the immediate supervisor, and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations.

Qualifications

Two‑year college degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or Material Science, or equivalent experience in manufacturing.

4 to 6 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment with exposure to standardization and production quality methods.

Working knowledge of steel manufacturing methods, heavy mill machinery, and related equipment.

Prior experience in Melt Shop operations.

Basic knowledge of business systems and complex technical/engineering processes.

Ability to train, guide, and lead people; solid presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

People‑management skills.

Reports directly to the Melt Shop Superintendent and must perform all duties in accordance with applicable regulations.
