
Maintenance Technician

The Jefferson Metropolitan Housing Authority (JMHA) is seeking a dependable and skilled full-time Maintenance Technician to perform maintenance work at various properties in and around Steubenville, Ohio.
This role is responsible for ensuring that buildings and facilities are safe, functional, and well-maintained. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in general maintenance trades and a strong work ethic.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine and emergency maintenance, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and general repairs
Maintain buildings and grounds, including basic landscaping and exterior upkeep
Install, repair, and service appliances and basic building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical)
Respond to work orders and maintenance requests promptly, prioritizing based on urgency
Troubleshoot issues and perform preventative maintenance
Assist with unit turnovers, inspections, and general property upkeep
Collaborate with team members on larger or more complex repair projects
Provide professional and courteous service when interacting with residents and staff
Schedule & Compensation
Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Participation in an on-call rotation required
Starting pay at $20.46/hour, with pay commensurate based on experience

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction trades or general maintenance, or completion of a vocational trade program
Valid driver's license and ability to be insured by JMHA's insurance carrier
Ability to perform a wide range of maintenance tasks safely and independently
Ability to interact professionally with residents, staff, and the public
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting 35+ pounds regularly
Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and perform tasks in varying weather conditions
Frequent travel between JMHA properties
All candidates must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
