Duties
Central New York Psychiatric Center is recruiting for Social Work Assistant 2 to provide case management and service coordination activities for individuals with mental illness. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.
Responsibilities
Interviewing individuals and their families to gather background information
Preparing case histories and determining eligibility for services
Advocating and assisting individuals in identifying and obtaining services
Supervising Social Work Assistant 1 and direct care staff
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a human service field and two years of social work experience, or a Master’s degree in social work may substitute for one year of specialized experience.
Candidates from outside or within State Service may be considered under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program.
State Service employees reachable on the current Social Work Assistant 3 eligible list may be considered for a competitive class appointment.
State Service employees with one year of permanent competitive or 55‑b/55‑c service in a title eligible for transfer may be considered for transfer to a competitive class position.
Permanent appointment may be made by non‑competitive promotion if all requirements are met, and the promotion field requires one year of permanent service as a Social Work Assistant 1.

Central New York Psychiatric Center – Marcy Correctional Facility, 9005 Old River Road, Marcy, NY 13403.
