Summary of Position
Knudtsen Foothills ABRA Body Shop Porter & Parts Inventory Assistant plays a key support role in the daily operations of Knudtsen Foothills ABRA. This hybrid position is primarily responsible for maintaining shop cleanliness, washing and preparing vehicles, and assisting technicians and staff with general shop tasks. A smaller yet important portion of the role involves supporting the parts department by checking in incoming parts, verifying accuracy and quality, and organizing parts for efficient workflow.

This position is ideal for someone who is detail‑oriented, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced automotive environment. While prior experience is helpful, we are willing to train the right candidate who brings a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.

Body Shop Porter Duties

Wash, vacuum, and detail customer vehicles before and after repairs, including exterior and interior cleaning, under‑hood inspection, dome and trunk jam cleaning, window and wheel cleaning, and truck bed rinsing.

Ensure all blends are properly buffed.

Confirm lights and blinkers work correctly.

Deliver vehicles for work to be completed by outside vendors and retrieve them upon completion.

Pickup from or deliver parts to outside vendors as needed.

Assist with customer vehicle drop‑off and pick‑up when required.

Effectively communicate with technicians regarding completed tasks.

Move vehicles in and out of the shop, parking areas, and staging zones.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop, bays, and common areas.

Empty trash, sweep floors, and assist with general facility upkeep.

Support technicians by delivering tools, supplies, or materials as needed.

Perform basic lot organization, including parking and tagging vehicles.

Parts Inventory Assistant Duties

Receive and check in incoming parts deliveries.

Verify part numbers, quantities, and accuracy against repair orders.

Inspect parts for damage, defects, or quality issues.

Label, store, and organize parts in designated areas.

Communicate discrepancies or damaged parts to the Estimator.

Assist with maintaining a clean and organized parts storage area.

Help track parts status and ensure technicians receive correct components.

Qualifications

A team player focused on providing exemplary customer service.

Previous experience in a body shop environment is desired.

Ability to stand or walk on hard surfaces for the majority of shift in all types of weather while exposed to elevated noise, vibration, and chemicals; must be able to stoop, bend, and twist on a daily basis.

Physical ability to perform in a physical position (see below).

Ability to safely operate a wide variety of cars, trucks, SUVs, and vans, including both automatic and manual transmissions.

Strong attention to detail, especially when verifying parts.

Valid driver’s license.

Pass a motor vehicle record and possess a safe driving record.

Pass a criminal background check and drug test.

Subject to random drug testing, reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing, and post‑accident testing at the company’s request.

Physical Demands and Working Environment
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work standing up, walk, use hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment, and speak and listen, both over the phone and in person to customers and fellow employees. The employee frequently must reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee occasionally works in a seated position, climbs or balances, and uses taste or smell as required. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75–100 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

This position is primarily a shop‑based, hands‑on role that will require computer work, attention to detail, and physical labor. Team members regularly work 45–50 hours per week. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and chemicals. Frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions and combustibles. Fast‑paced working environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
