We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Locate Technician to join our team in Holt's Summit, MO. The Locate Technician will be responsible for identifying and marking underground utility lines to ensure safe excavation and construction activities. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
Respond to locate requests and accurately identify underground utilities using maps, blueprints, and electronic locating equipment.
Mark utility lines with paint, flags, or stakes according to industry standards and local regulations.
Communicate effectively with contractors, utility companies, and customers to provide clear information about marked locations.
Maintain detailed records of locate activities and report any discrepancies or issues.
Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent damage to underground infrastructure and ensure personal safety.
Operate and maintain locating equipment and tools in good working condition.
Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to meet project deadlines.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in utility locating, construction, or related field preferred.
Knowledge of underground utility systems and local marking standards.
Ability to read and interpret maps, blueprints, and technical drawings.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks such as walking, bending, and lifting.
This position involves working outdoors on construction sites and public areas. The Locate Technician must be comfortable working in all weather conditions and adhere to safety standards at all times.
