Job Goal
To plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. The teacher is responsible for growth in student learning.

Performance Responsibilities
I. Instructional Responsibilities
Establish learning objectives—short‑term and long‑term—with written lesson plans (daily, weekly, or unit). Planning should provide systematic growth in knowledge, skills, appreciation, and attitudes.
Teach effectively using board‑approved program structure, curriculum guides, and policies.
Use diverse instructional techniques and materials; differentiate assignments to meet individual needs.
Explain assignments clearly and limit homework to meaningful extensions of classroom work.
Evaluate student learning frequently and adjust instruction accordingly. Use teacher‑made tests throughout each grading period.
Group students effectively and adapt instruction to individual learning levels.
Maintain a learning atmosphere conducive to student success.
Demonstrate understanding of child development and respect for every child’s individuality.
Show substantial knowledge of subject matter and curriculum objectives.
Promote self‑discipline, character, and respect using positive control techniques in line with state law and board policy.
Use orderly procedures for classroom control, including consistent routines for roll check, material handling, and time utilization.
II. Administrative Responsibilities
Follow school and Rapides Parish School Board rules and regulations.
Adhere to the school day schedule and any after‑school activities authorized by the principal.
Ensure non‑duty personnel report ten minutes before school and remain ten minutes after closing.
Sign in/out on appropriate forms.
Be present in the assigned classroom at the start of each period; do not leave the class unsupervised.
Remain at school during the day unless the principal grants permission.
Attend all administrative and professional meetings called by the principal.
Notify the principal in a timely manner of absence or advance return plans.
Follow Rapides Parish School Board staff guidelines.
Maintain an attractive, clean classroom environment.
Care for all instructional materials, furniture, and equipment.
Complete required records and reports accurately and promptly.
Organize and supervise field trips, ensuring parent consent, teacher oversight, and vehicle safety.
III. Professional Responsibilities
Demonstrate enthusiasm and confidence as a teacher.
Maintain positive public relations with parents and the community.
Act ethically in interactions with parents, peers, and students.
Participate in faculty and system‑wide in‑service programs and professional development.
Loyalty to the school system and the school.
Execute a professional growth and self‑evaluation plan per the Rapides Parish School Board Personnel Evaluation Plan.
Align instruction with the NIET rubric under the Instructional, Planning, and Environment Domains.
IV. Personal Responsibilities
Maintain professional conduct inside and outside of school, demonstrating integrity and dependability.
Dress appropriately per the board’s dress code.
Use language free of vulgarity or profanity.
Maintain self‑control and poise.
Stay in good health to perform teaching duties effectively.
Speak clearly with controlled voice and proper English usage.
Adapt to new situations and show effective problem‑solving under pressure.
Accept responsibility for assigned tasks and meet obligations on time.
Attend work except for illness or emergency as defined by board policies.
Perform any additional duties assigned by the superintendent or evaluator.
Follow federal, state, board, and school policies.
