Bachelor’s Degree
Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate
Any additional certifications/qualifications specified by the Louisiana Standards for State Certification of School Personnel Bulletin 746
REPORTS TO:
Principal/Assistant Principal/Other Assigned Evaluator
JOB GOAL:
To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. The teacher is responsible for growth in student learning.
TERM:
Nine, Ten, Eleven or Twelve Months
SALARY:
Nine, Ten, Eleven or Twelve Month Teacher Salary Schedule
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
I. Instructional Responsibilities
Establish learning objectives (immediate and long range) and maintain lesson plans.
Teach effectively using board-approved curriculum and varied instructional techniques.
Differentiate assignments and limit homework to meaningful content.
Evaluate student learning frequently, using teacher‑made tests.
Account for individual differences via grouping and individualized instruction.
Maintain classroom atmosphere conducive to learning, promoting self‑discipline and respect.
Use orderly procedures and routines for classroom control and time management.
Demonstrate substantial knowledge of subject matter and curriculum objectives.
II. Administrative Responsibilities
Follow school rules, schedules, and board regulations.
Report to school within required times and sign in/out appropriately.
Maintain classroom appearance, organization, and care of materials.
Prepare and supervise school field trips, ensuring safety and educational value.
Complete required records and reports promptly and accurately.
Remain at school during the day unless permission obtained.
Attend professional meetings and notify principal of absences in time.
III. Professional Responsibilities
Exhibit enthusiasm, positive attitude, and ethical conduct toward parents and colleagues.
Build good public relations with parents and community.
Participate in professional development and maintain cultural competency.
Construct a professional growth and self‑evaluation plan.
Implement the NIET rubric guidelines for instructional and planning domains.
QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Louisiana teaching certificate.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Competency in technology integration and diverse instructional materials.
