As Cox's

Network Technology Technician I , you will be the first and last line of support for our systems, ensuring continuous service and performance of all Cox Communications products and services.

You will support system growth and quality performance of all current and future Cox Communications products and services.

What You'll Do

Install, disconnect, and troubleshoot video, high-speed internet, telephony, and automation services.

Perform proactive and reactive maintenance to restore Hybrid Fiber Coaxial (HFC) networks to Cox performance specifications.

Maintain and repair equipment within the HFC distribution system.

Requisition equipment and supplies from the warehouse, and stock the vehicle as needed.

Maintain company trucks and other equipment per service requirements and safety guidelines.

Drive a company vehicle between office, warehouse, and work sites.

Monitor the Workforce Administration System (WFA) throughout the day.

Communicate with dispatch for service request assistance and status updates.

Consult with supervisors and other technicians for advice and aid as needed.

Educate customers about existing services and promote additional Cox services.

Attend training sessions that may include refreshers, product updates, and service updates.

Use small hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.

Work with alarms, low voltage electricity, and color‑coded wires.

Who You Are
You are a critical thinker, an active listener, a problem solver, and an issue resolver. The following qualifications are also in your toolbox:

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED with 5 years of related experience; OR 7 years of equivalent experience in lieu of a diploma or certification. Post‑high school education is a plus.

18 years of age.

Valid state driver’s license and a clean driving record.

At least one year of direct customer service experience.

One year of work experience in a comparable field (e.g., related hands‑on trade role).

Demonstrated proficiency in Core Technician skillsets.

Certifications and licenses required by state and municipal laws.

Successful completion of background checks for specialized projects or services.

PC and Windows software skills.

Stable work history.

Ability to work required shifts and overtime if necessary.

Spanish proficiency desirable in some locations.

Travel as business needs dictate.

Preferred Qualifications

Any level degree or certification beyond a High School diploma or GED plus 3 years of experience in a related discipline.

5+ years of experience specifically in‑service installation and repair in multiple service‑provider or telecommunications environments.

Physical Requirements

Ability to carry and use tools and equipment.

Adequate ability to distinguish different colors of wire.

Ability to frequently bend, stoop, and crawl.

Physical limitations for ladder and fall‑protection equipment:

1‑AA ladder: 375 pounds (inclusive of body weight, tools, equipment, PPE, etc.).

Other equipment (aerial lift, buck truck boom, ladder, fall protection harness) has a body‑weight capacity of approximately 325 pounds.

Get in and out of a van to retrieve various items. Step heights are 19".

Lift 500’ rolls of RG 11 Messenger Cable weighing 40 lbs. (lift from a height of 12" and place up to 36").

Raise and lower a ladder roof rack requiring 40 pounds of force at hand heights 55"-60".

Compress fittings onto coaxial cables with a crimping tool requiring 19 pounds of force with one hand.

Ascend and descend a ladder while wearing a tool belt that weighs 10 lbs.

Lift and carry a 63 lb., 28' extension ladder.

Lift 1,000’ rolls of Tri‑Shield weighing 28 lbs. (lift from a height of 12" and place up to 47").

Lift miscellaneous tools and products within the warehouse and van racks (each up to 10 lbs. and lifted from the floor to a height of 72").

Physical exam to verify physical requirements and others not listed may be required.

Ability to climb ladders and/or utility poles and work in high places.

Ability to work in small spaces (crawl spaces, attics).

Ability to work outdoors and in extreme weather conditions and varying topographic, wet, and dry locations.

Compensation
Hourly pay rate is $22.02 - $33.08 per hour. The base rate may vary depending on location and individual knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation such as commission and/or incentive programs.

Benefits
Employees are eligible for a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off each month and seven paid holidays annually.
