Compensation:
Attorney I - $46.49 - $56.20 / hour; Attorney II - $54.37 - 60.60 / hour; Attorney III - $62.22 - 86.17 / hour. Salary may be negotiable within the range listed above, based on position requirements and successful candidate's qualifications, subject to appropriate authorization.
Job Overview
Child Support Services (CSS) is dedicated to helping parents financially support their children. The department collaborates with courts and other agencies to enforce child support orders and provide comprehensive services to families.
Responsibilities
Establish, modify, and enforce child support orders.
Analyze policies and provide legal recommendations.
Meet with parents and review motions to establish, modify, and enforce reasonable child support orders.
Prepare responses, draft and review stipulations, and manage case follow‑up.
Appear in court in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
Collaborate with staff, parents, and court partners to resolve matters prior to court.
Desirable Qualifications
Strong written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in drafting legal documents.
Knowledge of legal principles, evidence rules, and court proceedings.
Proficiency in legal research and civil legal processes.
Ability to prepare and present cases in court.
Understanding of court systems and legal procedures.
Flexibility, adaptability, and strategic thinking.
Commitment to community service and direct engagement with parents.
Leadership and project‑management capabilities.
Vision for contributing to organizational success.

Prepare, present, and manage legal cases.
Draft pleadings, briefs, depositions, and reports with precision.

Minimum Qualifications
Required Experience/Education:
Active membership in the State Bar of California for all three levels.
Physical, Mental, Environmental, and Working Conditions
The role requires effective communication in person, via telecommunication, and in writing; mobility to move between work areas; ability to use a computer terminal and standard office equipment; lifting and carrying files; logical reasoning; composure in rapidly changing, sometimes hostile situations involving the public; and interaction with diverse populations.
