Production Supervisor – Sawmill Operations
Are you a hands‑on manufacturing leader who thrives in fast‑paced industrial environments? Do you know how to lead teams, drive production, improve safety performance, and build accountability on the floor?
A respected and growing lumber operation is seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee daily sawmill operations and lead supervisors and production teams toward best‑in‑class performance. This is a key leadership role reporting directly to the General Manager, with strong visibility and opportunity to make a lasting impact.
What You’ll Be Responsible For:
Safety Leadership First
Champion a strong safety culture across all departments
Ensure OSHA compliance, accident prevention, and safe work practices
Drive 100% training compliance (LOTO, Fall Protection, JSA, PPE, etc.)
Identify and remediate safety risks proactively
Oversee all phases of sawmill production:
Log Receiving | Breakdown | Sawing | Edging | Trimming | Sorting | Stacking
Ensure production goals are achieved safely, efficiently, and with quality output
Monitor workflow and adjust resources to optimize throughput
Lead initiatives focused on productivity, recovery, cost reduction, and OEE
Establish measurable KPIs and track progress
Engage teams in improvement ideas and ownership
Coach, mentor, and develop supervisors and crews
Hold daily production and safety meetings
Build a culture of accountability, communication, and performance
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with Maintenance and Plant Leadership to maximize uptime and mill results
What We’re Looking For:
3+ years of proven leadership success in a production or operations lead role
Experience in sawmills, wood products, lumber, forestry, manufacturing, or industrial operations preferred
Strong leadership presence and decision‑making ability
Knowledge of computerized production/reporting systems
Strong communication and team development skills
Solid analytical mindset with continuous improvement focus
Warm conditions / non‑air conditioned mill areas
Sawdust / active manufacturing atmosphere
