
Optical Staging Network Engineer II

We are seeking a Network Engineer II to support operations within our Optical Depot / Distribution Center. This role is responsible for the intake, configuration, testing, staging, and preparation of network equipment for deployment to field locations across the region. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with enterprise network implementation and support, along with a strong understanding of routing protocols, network hardware, security technologies, and infrastructure performance optimization.

Responsibilities
Support the Optical Team within the Optical Depot / Distribution Center
Intake, track, and process network equipment inventory for deployment
Configure, test, and stage network hardware for shipment to field sites
Perform rack and stack activities for deployments and site installations
Plan and implement enterprise network infrastructure, including hardware and software
Design and document network architecture and configurations
Assess existing technologies to identify performance or capacity gaps
Establish and maintain network security, including:
Firewalls
Configure connectivity and access parameters across enterprise environments
Provide recommendations to optimize network infrastructure performance
Test, tune, and maintain security devices and systems
Program and configure routers and switches
Support implementation of communications technologies (data and/or voice)
Manage network services from planning through implementation phases
Qualifications
2–5 years of experience in network engineering or network support roles
Required Skills
Strong understanding of:
Routing protocols
Network hardware and software
Security technologies
Hands‑on experience configuring and deploying routers and switches
Familiarity with network security systems, including firewalls and IDS
Ability to assess, troubleshoot, and resolve network performance issues
Experience working in equipment staging or deployment environments preferred
Optical Depot / Distribution Center setting. Hands‑on equipment staging and preparation. Support for field deployment activities.
