Requirements
High school or higher education degree, preferably in Nutrition or Food Service
Experience in Food Service including quantity and batch cooking
Physically capable of walking, bending, and standing for long periods of time
Can lift and carry objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds
Ability to work with a variety of food service and cleaning related products; ServSafe Certification preferred, but will offer certification upon hire
Performance Responsibilities
Plan for, prepare and serve breakfast, lunch and snack meals according to the daily menus and as outlined by the USDA for the National School Lunch Program (NSLP)
Follow component and portion guidelines as outlined by the NSLP
Supervise and assist with cleaning and sanitizing of all kitchen/dish room areas and School Nutrition equipment
Complete all necessary reporting documents including but not limited to production records and temperature records as required by the NSLP guidelines
Proficiency in use and safe operation and cleaning of all kitchen equipment
Follow sanitation/safety guidelines for the kitchen/dish room set by the Salem Health Department and NSLP guidelines to ensure satisfactory health inspections
Assign various duties as necessary to School Nutrition staff
Proficiency in computer use; POS experience a plus
Ability to learn and work within the School Nutrition software including recording of sales, reporting, menus, etc.
Other duties as may be assigned
Compensation
Hourly salary: Starting at $17.17 or more depending on experience (2025-2026)
