Job Summary & Qualifications
The OB Scrub Tech performs specific non-licensed or non-professional duties of patient care under the supervision of the RN. As a staff member, he/she can expect to provide safe and effective patient care, through the performance of specific duties, as the surgical scrub tech during surgical and other invasive procedures under the direction of a registered nurse. Performs routine scrub as well as specifically delegated duties according to AORN standards and established policies and procedures of the department of surgery. Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment for all. Keeps current with operating room techniques, procedures, instruments, supplies and equipment; assists with the ongoing Performance Improvement Program.
Prepares operating rooms for surgery using appropriate techniques.
Provides technical services and assists in operating room.
Functions under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.
Complies with the objectives and policies of the hospital and with surgical services’ standards of care.
Required to work flexible hours and be on call nights, weekends and holidays.
Qualifications
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
Operating Room Scrub Technician Certification (CST) a plus or Completion of an Accredited Surgical Scrub Technician Program or experience working as a scrub tech.
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
Minimum of one year of surgery experience preferred.
Skilled in all surgical service lines: Gynecology, General, Robotics, Ortho, Neuro, Vascular, Urology, and ENT.
1 yr minimum experience as a OR Tech or OB Tech.
